Ballycotton / Ballynamona beach is not known as a wave beach but can be good for some kite sessions. Shallow water especially in high tide. There is seaweed and some rocks on the far left and right of the spot, visible at low tide. Best wind direction is NE-E winds.
Oysterhaven was the place to learn windsurfing in the late 80's and has also been popular with long boarders enjoying the scenery. A nice little sheltered bay, ideal for learning.
Windsurf from a bay just outside the town or launch from the jetty's in the centre of town. Beware of a strong current in the direction of the tide and numerous large boats as this is the entrance to Cork harbour. There is an annual race around the Island. Spike...
